I love crows. They are cheeky and they know how to amuse themselves. One time camping, I heard a crow talking to himself. He rattled, purred and made a lot of interesting uncrow like sounds. Then a moment of silence. I swear he started laughing at his own joke. CAW CaaWW CAAAAwwww. Rats and Crows are very much alike in their ways. I love them both.

Living with non belivers
by Blade666 inmy question is can you as a jw live on same premises as a non jw.... in split house/property with no sexual relations or anything involved... i am being forced to move due to a "sister" wanting to go back to her god and has made the point of saying she cannot have a male around.
even though the property itself is split with seperate access for both parts of the house.. she has put a blanket rule out saying the whole property itself... doesnt make sense to me nor to any of the elders i have spoken to regarding the matter.. yes i called them as i know next to nothing about the faith.. .
i find it strange that two elders urge a non jw to seek justice from fair trading and rental tribunal as they themselves do not belive the actions of the "sister" in question or her family to be correct or right... .

Although I live in my own house, I am still affected by crazy neighbors that aren't JW's. To keep "the peace" I had to remove a small pile of dead grass, why? Because the crazy husband and wife convinced themselves that it was the cause of the "awful" smell that kept them from sitting on their porch. In reality, they had their garbage container there for a few days previously that reeked. But it couldn't be that, nooooooooo. The husband did things for revenge like running his compressor early or late at night before I found out the reason.
I threw the pile of grass into the garbage - it smelled like hay - and they magically could sit on their porch.
So crazy comes in all sizes and that is what that "sister" is. Lisarose has it right, ultra righteousness at play here.

California Tubbs Fire photos you might not find find anywhere else...
by La Capra into quote someone near and dear: they should have built the whole kingdom hall out of the same thing they built the signs.... i had to wait nearly two weeks to get into the neighborhood to get these pictures for your voyeuristic interests...this is peanuts compared to the over 5,000 homes that were destroyed (this number includes individual units in large apartment complexes that were completely razed).
those pictures and videos are available in the media.
wine country is a community devastated..

Most of those trees look like they've been scorched. If there wasn't a firestorm in that location but just a creeping fire, some of the trees might live.

Religion is just like Advertising!
by stuckinarut2 ina thought occurred to me today, that religion is just like a clever marketer or advertiser.
first , a "problem" is created, then the advertiser offers the "solution"!.
religion does the same!

And like advertisers, they provide beautiful conceptual art to entice you. See this beautiful bun, with fluffy lettuce encasing a juicy hamburger patty. When you get it and open the wrapper, it looks like someone sat on it.

For most of the video, there's a big almost 5' x 4' JW logo on the wall. If you listen closely (which unfortunately I did) one man says "our old space was "suitable" for a time but then they needed a bigger space that was adequate. (at least that is what I remember but I'm not going to listen again, it brings back those memories of convention talks)
So they just take your hand and lead you down the path of "of course we need this and Jehovah blessed us" But I think of how they call the Vactican an opulent waste of money and how poor people would benefit from the money spent on the furnishings etc.
Just makes me feel like they are going Wow! Look at all the expensive cool stuff we got because Videos are so in now and will really help people to know the Truth.
The real secret is - they are getting ready to replace the current GB with CGI. Then they won't have to worry anymore about roasted hot dog comments.

Unwritten Theory
by moreconfusedthanever inhave any of you heard some theories from jws that are not based on scripture?
i have, in the past few days, heard a couple that have me shaking my head.. first one is that since satan was around during the creation period and probably watched on as things were being made, it is possible that he is responsible for the creation of some of the more hideous and nasty creatures that live among us.
surely god wouldn't make horrible things.. second one is that satan already had a bad attitude before the creation of adam and eve and was collecting followers among the other angels early on and stirring trouble.

When I was discussing why nothing had been happening since God's kingdom had come in 1914, the JW lady at work got a smile on her face. She said "This is what one sister said, and I think it's something interesting. She said that Jesus has been making lists of what he is going to do and of the people he's going to have help him"
I said "How long does it take to make a list? If president Obama had done the same thing when he got elected - not doing anything but making lists - he would have been impeached and thrown out."

Today's W.T when it mentioned Depression and Anxiety
by Isambard Crater inour co-ordinator put his hand up and commented saying that people who go on about how depressed or anxious they are just need to stop giving in to impulses and show more self control without letting their emotions rule their lives.. if anyone from the media, a government agency or some other public body heard a comment like that, they'd have a hard time exercising self control over the rubbish this elder spouted, which my friends and family with genuine depression found insulting..

An old elder once asked me how I was, and I decided to be honest (and not just say ok) I said I was very depressed and was having a hard time. He looked at me with his finger pointed at my face and said "Then you must be doing something wrong"

God will not let you suffer more than you can bare.
by StephaneLaliberte ini had a conversation with an old jw friend and he spent a good part of the evening preaching to me.
as i am “inactive”, i am forced to stay low, thus, i was not argumentative.
yet, at one moment, he said that angels protect jws in field service and other situations.

Although I don't remember all the details, there was a true story of a young married sister who was either selling a car or inquired about free baby clothing. Sorry I can't quite remember that point. But the woman who showed up, killed her by cutting the baby out of her and claimed it as her own.
Her father was an elder and he and the husband before they left, had prayed "that she would be safe". So this caused the father great sorrow and turmoil. It must have affected other witnesses too. So the WT I'm guessing, pressured this elder to give them an article on how he overcame this apparent lack of care by god.
Basically, he said he was torn over god not protecting his daughter and agonizing over his faith in him. But eventually he reasoned that god had kept his daughter spiritually safe and she would be resurrected. They did find the baby boy ok.
The WT has no conscience, just a greedy desire for everyone to accept excuses for god.

Outside JW World They Barely Exist
by Farmer Jim1 inis anyone else staggered by the fact that outside of the organization most of the general public seem to know very little or nothing about jw’s?
when i was in i was led to believe that 99% of the worlds population had been giving sufficient warning, knew what it was all about and were stubbornly sticking to their immoral ways.
the reality seems to be that the entire jw universe is barely noticeable to the masses.

I used to see a few out in service after leaving and thought the same thing.
Didn't we go out thinking that as people drove by or saw us from their windows, that a BIG witness was being given? That we were important enough to be recognized were ever we went? Assemblies with the badges on going out to dinner....
One nice old lady told me that in her town years ago, when they saw witnesses, they'd call everyone so they could "miss" the knock on the door. But she didn't know much about what they taught - just that they were nice but a nuisance.

As an artist, I find old drawings and such. Sometimes I keep them for one reason or another and other times they are tossed because there are so many that are attempts that failed.
Sometimes I'm amazed at what I drew back then. Recently a stippled picture that I spent hours and hours on, slipped out of the pad it was being kept in. This picture had been done on Bristol smooth paper that was supposed to be acid free, archivel etc. Well the one time I bought this expensive paper for several important pieces, was all for nothing. I have kindergarten paper that has lasted better than this. So the picture slipped out and fell to the floor - and turned into a mosaic. Crummy paper was like chalk and shattered. I occasionally look at it on the floor. All that time wasted because of the paper. But I don't equate paper with people.
I'll never buy another piece of paper by Bristol. That's my lesson. As for as the painter - he can paint over stuff if he wants but why not buy or make another canvass? I would have given it to the boy. Art is after all, in my opinion, something that is found in the eye of the beholder and an experience unique to the viewer. Haha sorry, I often get carried away from the topic.
